GDR as a country lived for 41 years. These buildings (except the Bibliothek one) were built in the 1950's, the early years of GDR. I can not get tired of looking at them.

Ah these are lovely... I've heard so much about East & West Germany, & The Berlin wall finally being broken.
ReplyDeleteI m very impressed whit this building.
ReplyDeleteGreat building and fantastic style!
Greetings from you
But when you live in an ex-communistic country (in my case Romania), you really get sick and tired of that type of architecture and you long for something less geometrical, less tall, more pretty and colourful :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the Karl Marx strasse during my time in Berlin, the unity of the buildings is really impressive and good looking!
ReplyDeletei love to live in a city that values it's history. (whether good or bad.) i live in a city that is constantly tearing down old buildings only to be replaced by shitty high rises. they are gaudy and cold and have no life.
ReplyDeleteHere are the first pictures I 've seen from GDR(except in history books at school years ago) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnd not that long ago... An amazing history Berlin has!
